Track Days
Humm, I must admit I'm not a big fan of track days, this has no reflection of the people who run them, just a minority of some
of the people who attend them!
1. What do you get at a Track Day?
Unlike race schools you are required to use your own bike, you know that nice shinny, expensive thing in your garage!
You get NO coaching, just a talk at the beginning of the day, that half the riders ignore once they get on the track!
The one I attended at Cadwell Park was attended by approximately 60 riders. At the end of the day 15 bikes where smashed up!
Mainly due to people doing stupid things, you see once you get a group of bikers, virtually unsupervised, on a track they all
want to race each other. The other thing seems to be because they are on the track they get a false sense of security, 'I'm on
a track now, I can go as fast as Foggy!' oops there's a corner ... smash!.
2. How much does it cost?
This also varies, the one I attended was 65 pounds.
3. Which one /Should I attend?
Its up to you and your wallet, I would recommend going to a race school over a track day anyday, if you can't afford a race school,
go on a track day over nothing! Riders are normally grouped by pace/experience, ask to go in the slow group. Its better to be
slowed up once in a while than knocked off by some pratt or urged into going quicker than you are capable of!
It also varies on your experience, if you've ridden on several track days, you may find a race school too strict and inhibiting.
